Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Denise. I am now a 33 year old survivor of child abuse, neglect, rape, incest and a child of alcoholism.

As an adult survivor.  I understand the scars that abuse leaves on its victims. I understand the depression, bitterness, and rage. I know about the shame and guilt that adult survivors deal with. I am familiar with the terror of flashbacks and triggers. Over the years, I have come to recognize my inner child. I know how hard it is to trust. I know that just one day without remembering is a blessing.

I also believe that healing is possible with the right tools and enough moral support. Knowing that you are not alone and sharing your feelings about what happened to you as a child, can open the door to recovery. It takes courage and determination to open that door, to take that first step, to reach out to others who understand your pain.

This is not an easy journey, nor one that we would choose to take, but as we travel this road, we will gather the courage, knowledge and power to heal our wounded spirits.

If you are an adult survivor of childhood trauma, I invite you to accompany me on a healing journey. This journey will have no specific beginning and no specific ending. Each of you is unique and thus, your journey will be too. It will be a journey with curves and detours and many mountains to climb, but it will also be a journey of many rewards.

I will provide articles on all aspects of child abuse, links to important related sites, polls,a chat room, forums, webrings, diary pages, news letter, petitions, art, poetry, emotional support and anything I find helpful. I will also at times, provide commentary on different subjects related to child abuse. I welcome your comments and suggestions and will answer all e-mails.

By telling our stories and speaking out against child abuse in all forms, we contribute to the awareness and prevention of child abuse. I look forward to our future with hope for healing and will try to inspire you to reclaim your authentic selves and your power to not only survive, but to thrive.
